ProPublica’s Director of Distributed Reporting Amanda Michel will launch inFUZE on October 21st precisely because she knows a thing or two about multi-platform collaboration. She ran a team opf 7500 citizen journalists when she was at the Huffington Post in NYC. Now she’s one of America’s top investigative reporters heading up a growing army of citizen journalists in a huge crowd sourcing project reporting the successes and failures of Obama’s 3 trillion dollar bail out package.

 

Prior to her work as the Director of OffTheBus at the revolutionary Huffington Post, Michel helped launch NewAssignment.Net’s first project Assignment Zero, served as the Director of Communications at the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University, was a co-founder of the New Organizing Institute and worked in various media, organizing and strategic roles for political campaigns

The UK’s leading broadcaster, the BBC, and the oldest journalism college at UCLan have been commissioned by NWVM to develop a cutting edge programme to re-skill experienced journalists from print, radio and TV in new and different platforms. INFUZE will give 10 freelance journalists from the region the ability to produce content across a number of platforms: online, TV, radio, and mobile. This cutting edge training programme features a mix of mind opening visionary sessions, technical training and a 3 month paid placement opportunity at various news outlets across the region including the BBC and GMG Radio.
